Govt okays 12.81 crore textbooks buying for class IV, V, IX, X

The government yesterday approved separate proposals for procurement of some 12,80,64,624 copies of textbooks for distributing free of cost among students of class IV, V, IX and X for the academic year 2025.
The approval came from this year’s 16th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Adviser to the interim government on the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, he said the meeting has approved a proposal of the National Curric-ulum and Textbook Board (NCTB) under the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division for the printing, binding and supplying of 6,28,51,540 copies of text books for secondary (Bangla and English versions, 9th class), Dakhil (9th class) and Technical (9th class) education through 211 bidders at a cost of around Taka 525.34 crore.
The meeting also approved another procurement proposal of NCTB for the printing, binding and supply-ing of 1,00,10,981 copies of text books for secondary (Bangla version, 10th class) education through 36 bidders at a cost of around Taka 89.85 crore.
The meeting also approved another proposal of the NCTB for the printing, binding and supplying of 5,52,02,103 copies of text books for Ibtedai (4th and 5th class), Secondary (Bangla and English ver-sions, 10th class), Dakhil (10th class) and Technical (10th class) education through 152 bidders at a cost of around Taka 423.24 crore.
