Naogaon: Two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a drum truck in Mandah upazila of Naogaon on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 3:30pm at Mohammadpur, located on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway.
The deceased have been identified as Alvi Rabbani Zihan (32), son of Enamul Haque from Sapahar upazila’s Chouddhuripara area, and Mahin Ahmed Sagar (27), son of Abdul Jabbar.
According to local sources, the private car was traveling from Rajshahi towards Naogaon when it collid-ed head-on with a speeding drum truck coming in the opposite direction. The car was severely damaged and got stuck against a roadside pillar. Both passengers were declared dead at the scene.
Monsur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mandah Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that police, with the assistance of the Fire Service, recovered the bodies.
After completing legal formalities, the bodies will be handed over to the families, he added.
