Two placed on remand over lawyer Saiful murder

A Chattogram court has placed two accused on remand in connection with the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who was hacked to death during a clash on 26 November, reportedly by followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

The two accused are Chandan Das and Ripan Das.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam granted the remand orders after Kotwali police produced them before the court on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, Chandan Das, 35, was arrested at Bhairab Junction Railway Station in Kishoreganj, while Ripon Das was arrested from Chattogram’s Anwara.
