Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus yesterday said the ongoing ill-efforts have become a big impediment to the journey of new Bangladesh, terming it an issue of existence.
“Now we have to tell the entire world that we are one. We achieved together what we got…we forced out those who held on our chests. We have freed ourselves. We should show this before world together,” he said.
The chief adviser said this while delivering his opening remarks in yesterday’s meeting with political parties at the Foreign Services Academy in the capital Dhaka.
Prof Yunus sought suggestions from the political parties to this end, saying “Let’s not make a mistake in moving forward with this matter. Let’s work together. If we all do it together, a collective force will be created”.
He said the very heavy stone of oppression was removed through the student-people uprising but many people did not like “our freedom and our liberty”, so they were trying to overturn it after the August 5.
When the Durga Puja was approaching, he said, it seemed that chaos would emerge over it and that was why the government called for unity and all responded to the call.
Puja was celebrated very peacefully all over the country, while all participated in the joy of the Puja, he added.
The chief adviser said there was no disorder in any place but many people did not like it too.
That quarter continues ill-efforts in new ways and is creating imaginary tales of anther Bangladesh in place of the new Bangladesh what “we are trying to build”, he said.
“All the time, they are giving various forms to it. It is not limited to one country. It spreads to particular big countries. Those who don’t like our great revolution want to erase it and want to hide,” the chief ad-viser said.
He said the quarter is creating a narrative that a terrible incident happened in Bangladesh and the country should be protected from it.
All, including political parties, should be united to prove it false and establish the reality, Prof Yunus said, adding, “It is not an issue of political ideology but an issue of our existence as a nation”.
“We created a free and independent Bangladesh through a revolution, but they (vested quarter) want to erase it. They want to go back to the previous regime. They don’t say it verbally, but their attitude is that the ousted regime was good,” he said.
He said the quarter, which is so powerful, wants to create an imaginary Bangladesh, while it is gradually becoming apparent that they are able to convince people that they are creating this new myth and many are expressing doubts.
Despite repeated calls to visit Bangladesh to see the reality as there is no barrier here, they are creating imaginary tales, the chief adviser said.
