18 ex-ministers, MPs shown arrested in fresh murder cases

A Dhaka court yesterday showed 18 people including former ministers and members of parliament (MPs) arrested in fresh cases filed over murder and attempted murder during the student-led July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the orders as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in these cases. The court later sent them back to jail.
Of the 18, Amir Hossain Amu, Salman F Rahman, ASM Feroz, Dr Dipu Moni, hahriar Kabir, former NSI director Monirul Islam and former deputy commissioner of Lalbagh zone detective branch Moshiur Rahman were shown arrested in a case filed with the Jatrabari Police Station.
Former law minister Anisul Huq was shown arrested in three murder cases filed with the Jatrabari Police Station, Qamrul Islam in a Lalbagh Police Station case, Rashed Khan Menon and Hasanul Haque Inu in four separate cases filed with the Jatrabari Police Station, Haji Mohammad Salim in a Bongshal Police Station case, Sadek Khan in Adabor Police Station case and ABM Fazle Karim in a case filed with the Kotwali Police Station.
Former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was shown arrested in two cases filed with the Jatra-bari Police Station and one case filed with the Shahbagh Police Station, Solaiman Salim in three sepa-rate cases filed with the Jatrabari Police Station, Chawkbazar Police Station and Bonghsal Police Sta-tion, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was shown arrested in five cases filed with the Jatrabari Police Station, two cases with Bonghsal Police Station and another case filed with the Kotwali Police Station, former officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan was shown arrested in two cases filed with the Jatrabari Police Station.
