Half-day hartal over bus fare on Dhaka-Narayanganj route on Sunday

A Narayanganj-based citizens’ group named Passenger Rights Protection Forum has announced a half-day hartal to be observed on Sunday to press home demand for reducing bus fares on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route.

The group also said that the maximum fare for non-AC buses on the route should be set at Tk 45 while the fare for students at half of the total fare.

On Friday, the activists of the forum brought out a torch procession from in front of the Central Shaheed Minar of the city that ended at the Narayanganj Press Club after marching different streets.

Earlier on 27 October, the forum announced nine programmes, including distributing leaflets, conducting awareness campaigns at educational institutions, discussions with citizens, holding processions and from 29 October to 16 November to push their demand.
