After consultation with students, the interim government has decided to keep DU’s seven colleges affiliated with the university, but set up a completely separate management facility for the college students with dedicated staff and registrar.
The dedicated officials will work on University of Dhaka (DU) campus, said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam at a press briefing held at Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday.
DU will discuss with the University Grants Commission on setting up a dedicated facility within its borders for the seven colleges namely: Eden Mohila College, Dhaka College, Titumur College, Mirpur Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls College, Government Shahid Suhrawardy College, and Kabi Nazrul Government College.
Shafiqul Alam said the interim government advisers are open to hold further discussions with the students if they have anything else to say.
He hoped the students would end their demonstrations, which blocked Dhaka traffic for two consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday, as Thursday’s discussion were very fruitful.
