Staff Reporter:
Students and job candidates on Thursday rejected a government decision, announced about an hour earlier, that raises the public service joining age limit to 32 years from 30 years.
In this regard the movement to press home the demand of raising the age limit to 35 years would continue, said Md Shafirul Hasan Shuvo, a key organiser of the movement.
The new decisions would be announced in a press conference, Shariful added.
Shariful claimed they have been protesting for a long time to secure 35 years as the maximum public service joining age limit.
Students seeking government jobs will not accept a raise to 32 years, he said.
The decision on limiting BCS recruitment applications to three times for a candidate is also irrational, he said clarifying that even under the previous “discriminatory” regulations, job seekers could apply for BCS jobs five-six times until getting 30 years old.
Job seekers want 35 years as the maximum government job entry age limit without any strings attached, Shariful said.
