Low-pressure expected over Bay within 5 days

The Meteorological Department on Friday indicated that a low-pressure system might form in the central Bay of Bengal within the next five days.

In its weather update, it said that during the 24 hours from Friday evening some areas in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions and one-two spots in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions may experience rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

Both day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged over this period.

There is a possibility of rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds at one or two places in Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions in the 24 hours starting 6pm Saturday, the Met said.

The weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Daytime temperatures may slightly increase, while nighttime temperatures are likely to stay almost unchanged across the country.

In the 24 hours from Sunday evening, rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few places in the Chattogram division. Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies prevailing for a temporary period. Daytime temperatures may increase slightly, and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain stable.
