The metro rail’s Kazipara station which got damaged during the student movement is all set to reopen Friday.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director Mohammad Abdur Rouf said this at a media conference at the DMTCL office in the capital on Thursday.

The repair cost for this station was Tk20.5 lakh, he stated.

Abdur Rouf said, “The Kazipara station will be operational from Friday. It is being opened quickly for the convenience of the commuters. There are still many necessary pieces of equipment that will gradually be installed, which may increase the expenses later.”

Regarding the opening of the Mirpur-10 station, he mentioned that a committee is working on it. “The committee is currently assessing the damage, and the extent of the damage will be known within the next seven days. Appropriate measures will be taken afterward,” he added.

At the press conference, it was mentioned that the metro rail services were temporarily suspended for about 10 hours on Wednesday from Agargaon to Motijheel section due to a technical glitch.

To investigate the cause of this unexpected incident and to take necessary precautionary measures to prevent such incidents in the future, a seven-member committee was formed comprising representatives from DMTCL, the project, and the consulting firm, Abdur Rouf said.
