The government has asked foreign ministry’s Secretary (Maritime Affairs Unit) Rear Admiral (Retd) Md Khurshed Alam will carry out routine works as the Foreign Secretary until further notice.
The decision was taken as former Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen handed over his responsibilities, according to an office order of the foreign ministry.
Earlier, the government cancelled the contractual appointment of Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard yesterday.
His contractual appointment was scheduled to end in December this year.
Masud joined as Foreign Secretary on December 31, 2019.
The previous ousted government extended the tenure of Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen by two more years under a contractual appointment effective from December 6, 2022 or from the date of his joining.
