The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to hoist local cautionary signal-3 as a deep depression over the North-West central Bay of Bengal has been formed.
Besides, the inland river ports of Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet have been asked to hoist cautionary signal no-1.
A BMD bulletin issued this morning said, “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am on Sunday.”
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal have also been asked to proceed with caution near the coast until further notice.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country, it added.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
