Bangladesh Jamiatul Mudarreseen, an organisation of madrasah teachers, on Saturday formed a 207-member executive committee with AMM Bahauddin, editor of The Daily Inqilab, and Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Momtaji as president and general secretary, respectively.
The fresh committee was announced at a meeting of the organisation held at Gausul Azam Complex in the capital’s Moakhali, read a press release.
After the meeting, a discussion was also held where leaders of the organisation welcomed the interim government led by Prof Muhammad Yunus.
AMM Bahauddin said, “This government which has no political ambition should be given unconditional support and cooperation for the sake of our country.
“It may take a year or more to reform the state as the situation in financial, education and other sectors is going through a bad time.”
He also urged the government to ensure quality education at the institutions, including madrasah, and build a society free from corruption and drug addiction.
