A Dhaka court on Friday set 22 September to submit a probe report in a case filed against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 22 others over the killing of a 26-year-old student Md Sifat Hossain amid student movement in Mirpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi set the date after accepting the first information report (FIR).
Former ministers Obaidul Quader and Asaduzzaman Khan, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former DB chief Harun-or-Rashid, additional joint commissioner Biplab Kumar, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, several former MPs, including Manikganj-2 lawmaker SM Zahid, several Awami League leaders and unidentified people were made accused in the case.
Kamal Howlader, the father of deceased Sifat, filed the case Thursday with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan’s court.
On Friday, Mirpur Model Police Station registered the case.
According to the complaint, on 20 July, thousands of students were protesting in front of MS Power in Mirpur-10.
The police fired indiscriminately on that movement. At that time, Sifat was shot dead while crossing the road to a safe place. The bullet entered one side of his head and exited the other side.
