Staff Reporter:
The metro rail operation will not resume on Saturday as initially announced, because the authorities were unable to complete the required technical tests.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), the operating agency of metro rail, said this in a press statement on Thursday night.
The authority could not mention any new date for resuming operations.
Meanwhile, the statement did not specify any reason, reports Daily Star.
Sources indicated that the metro authority was unable to start the trial run of the metro rail due to an ongoing work abstain by a group of DMTCL employees.
The two stations in Mirpur 10 intersection and Kazipara were vandalized during the recent student movement that toppled Sheikh Hasina’s regime.
The services were suspended on July 18 amid demonstrations by students demanding quota reform in public service.
