A thirteen-member committee has been formed to make a list with details of the families of those killed and injured during the student-led uprising that caused the downfall of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, for compensation.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification signed by its Deputy Secretary Mohammod Abdul Hai on Thursday.
According to the notification, a policy would be formed in order to bear all treatment costs for injured protesters and also aid the families of the deceased.
The ministry’s former senior secretary Muhammad Humayun Kabir has been made convener and additional secretary of Health Services Division (public and private health management) member secretary in the committee.
Other members of the committee are – representatives from the Cabinet Division, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, Finance Division, Public Security Division, Ministry of Social Welfare, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasah Education Division, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and Directorate General of Health Services.
The committee can include further members if needed.
