Students paint walls with positive notes

Staff Reporter:

Students from several private universities undertook a roadside cleaning campaign and shared positive comments on bringing discipline to the capital and elsewhere in the country on Thursday.

“We are moving towards a better Bangladesh. During the movement, there was some damage to the road and walls. Now we clean and colour walls to share positive words to inspire people,” said a student of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) while talking to the Daily Sun.

Dozens of students were seen removing advertisements from the walls of Jamuna Future Park adjacent to Jagannathpur Road in the capital.

Apart from this, scores of students from schools, colleges, and universities were busy sweeping and clearing garbage from the streets. Praising the initiatives, Mahabub, a pedestrian, said people have a lot to learn from the young generation.

“They will encourage future generations. We must all join such initiatives,” he said. A student-led movement ousted Sheikh Hasina’s regime on 5 August. Hasina resigned as the prime minister and fled the country after weeks of tumultuous student protests against her regime.
