AL’s programs on mourning month

The Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies have chalked out month-long programs for the month of mourning commemorating Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s martyrdom anniversary and the National Mourning Day.
As part of the program, AL’s associate bodies- Awami Swechchhasebak League and Bangladesh Chhatra League – was scheduled to brought out a candlelight procession towards Bangabandhu Memorial Muse-um at Dhanmondi 32 at one-minute past zero hours last night.
Bangladesh Chhatra League and Matsyajibi League was also scheduled to hold separate candlelight vigil in memory of August 15 martyrs at the same time.
While, Krishak League will hold a blood donation campaign, discussion and doa mahfil at Krishibid In-stitution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium at 10 am today.
AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the programme as the chief guest.
Jubo Mohila League will pay homage to Father of the Nation by laying wreaths at his portrait at Dhan-mondi-32 at 7am.
On the same day, Jatiya Sramik League will bring out a mourning procession from AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office at 10 am.
Jubo League will hold month-long Quran khatam program and arrange milad and doa mahfils and dis-tribute foods among orphans and distressed people.
On August 2, Krishak League will hold a voluntary blood donation campaign and discussion and distrib-ute food among distressed people and launch tree plantation campaign and hold doa mahfil at zila, upzila and union levels.
On August 3, Matsyajibi League will inaugurate a tree plantation campaign.
On August 4, Awami Jubo League will arrange a youth rally, form a human chain and stage sit-in pro-gramme and send memorandum to divisional commissioners.
On August 5, marking the birth anniversary of valiant freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu, floral wreaths will be placed at his portrait on the premises of Dhanmondi Abahani Club at 8 am.
Later, wreaths will be laid at his grave at Banani graveyard at 8:45 am.
AL’s Dhaka City South unit will organize a discussion at the party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office here at 11 am marking the birthday of Sheikh Kamal.
Juba League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and Matsyajibi League will hold discussions marking the birthday of Sheikh Kamal.
Awami Swechchhasebak League will arrange a discussion and photo-exhibition at 11 am.
On August 7, Awami Jubo League will arrange a youth rally, form a human chain and stage a sit-in pro-gramme and send memorandum to upazila nirbahi officers.
Marking the birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, wreaths will be placed at her grave at Banani graveyard at 8 am on August 8.
Awami League, its Dhaka city north and south units and associate bodies will hold Quran khawni, milad and doa mahfils.
Juba League will hold a discussion marking birth anniversary of Bangamata.
AL’s Dhaka City South unit will distribute food among orphans at Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage in the city’s Azimpur area after Zohr prayers on the day.
Awami Swechchhasebak League and Matsyajibi League will hold doa mahfil and discussion.
On August 9, Jatiya Sramik League will place wreath at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Banga-bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj at 11 am.
August 10, Mohila Samrik League will hold a discussion at AL Bangabandhu Avenue central office marking the National Mourning Day.
Besides, Mohila Awami League will hold a discussion at AL Bangabandhu Avenue central office at 10 am, marking the birthday of Bangamata.
August 11, Awami Swechchhasebak League will arrange a discussion marking the national mourning day.
August 12, Matsyajibi League will release fish fry on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad will hold a discussion at BSMMU’s Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Centre at 3pm on that day.
On August 13, Awami Swechchhasebak League will organize a three-day photo exhibition on the prem-ises of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi-32.
On August 15, marking the martyrdom anniversary of the brutal assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members and National Mourning Day, national and party flags will be kept at half mast and black flags will be hoisted atop all AL offices across the country including Bangabandhu Bhaban and central office during the sunrise.
AL leaders and workers will pay glowing tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32 here at 6:30am.
On the day, tributes will also be paid to other martyrs of August 15 by placing wreaths at their graves in Banani graveyard at 8 am. Special munajat, offering Fateha, mazar jiarat and milad mahfil will also be held there.
An AL delegation, Gopalganj district and Tungipara upazila units of the party will pay homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj at 12 pm. Fateha offering, milad and doa mahfil will be arranged there.
Doa and milad mahfil will also be arranged at all mosques across the country, including Baitul Mukar-ram National Mosque, after Zohr prayers.
Besides, special prayers will be offered at temples, churches and pagodas across the country to mark the National Mourning Day.
As part of central program, special prayers and candlelight vigil will be held at Mirpur Baptist Church (3/7-A Senpara, Parbata, Mirpur-10) at one-minute past zero hours on August 15.
Christian community will also arrange special prayers at Holy Rosary Church at Tejgaon here at 9 am, Buddhist community at International Buddhist Monastery at Merul Badda here at 10 am and Hindu community at Dhakeshwari National Temple at 11.30 am.
Foods will be distributed among insolvent, orphans and distressed people all over the country in the luncheon and mass-luncheon will also be hosted.
Mohila Awami League will hold doa and milad mahfil on the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi-32 after Asr prayers on that day.
On August 16, a discussion will be arranged at 4pm at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) or Dhaka District Awami League Bhaban on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair the discussion.
On August 17, Dhaka city north and south units of AL will arrange a discussion at the AL’s Banga-bandhu Avenue central office at 11am commemorating the countrywide series bomb attacks on that day in 2005.
Awami Swechchhasebak League will form a human-chain on the same day.
Bangladesh Chhatra League will hold an anti-terrorism and militancy rally protesting the countrywide series bomb attacks.
Jubo League will hold also anti-terrorism and militancy rallies across the country and hoist black-flags.
On August 18, Dhaka District South Unit of Krishak League and Dhaka City North Unit of Jatiya Sramik League will hold a discussion on the mourning day.
Bangladesh Krishak League will organize an art competition on Bangabandhu among the children of farmers at Krishibid Institute Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium here on August 20.
The Dhaka City South Unit of Sramik League will hold a discussion on the National Mourning Day at 3 pm on the same day.
On the occasion of August 21 Grenade Attack Day, Awami League (AL) will organize a discussion at its party central office on Bangabandhu Avenue here at 11 am with AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Awami Swechchhasebak League will pay glowing tributes and stage candle light vigil in memories of the martyrs killed in the grenade attack at 5:21 pm.
Besides, the Krishak League will hold a discussion and offer special prayers on the occasion.
On August 22, a discussion along with doa-mahfil will be held at Krishibid Institute here under the ar-rangement of Dhaka City North Krishak League marking the National Mourning Day.
On August 23 (Friday), Mohila Awami League will hold a discussion at AL’s central office on Banga-bandhu Avenue at 10 am on the occasion of Ivy Rahman’s death anniversary.
In the meeting, they will also pay tributes to the August 21 grenade attack victims.
Besides, Mohila Sramik League will stage demonstration in front of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) at 10 am demanding the death sentence of the masterminds of the August 21 grenade attack.
On the same day, the ‘Free Specialist Medical Camp’ will be held in all the districts by the Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad.
Dhaka City North and South Units of AL and its affiliated organizations will pay homage to martyred women leader Begum Ivy Rahman at Banani graveyard in the morning on August 24.They will also of-fer doa mahfil there.
Under the initiative of Manikganj, Narsingdi and Gazipur District Units of Krishak League, leader and workers of the organization will wear black badges, plant trees, hold discussions and distribute clothes and foods among orphans in their respective districts.
Awami Matsyajibi League will hold discussion on the same day.
On August 25, Jubo League’s Dhaka City North unit will arrange a milad and doa mahfil recalling the martyrs of August 15 and August 21 and distribute food items among destitute people.
Awami Jubo League will arrange a countrywide tree plantation programme on the same day.
On August 26, Jubo League’s Dhaka City South unit will hold arrange a milad and doa mahfil recalling the martyrs of August 15 and August 21 and distribute food items among destitute people.
Matsyajibi League will hold a discussion on the same day.
On August 27, marking the death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Awami League and its associate bodies will pay tributes to the national poet by placing wreaths at his grave on the premises of Dhaka University central mosque at 8am.
Bangladesh Chhatra League will arrange story telling program on the same day.
On August 29, Jatiya Sramik League will hold a discussion at 3pm.
On August 30, Dhaka City North and South units of AL will hold a discussion at Dhaka District AL Of-fice at Tejgaon here marking the National Mourning Day.
AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present at the discussion as the chief guest.
On August 31, Bangladesh Krishak League will organize a discussion at AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue cen-tral office marking the National Mourning Day.
Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League will hold a discussion marking the National Mourning Day at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
If date, place and time of any program are changed, it will be informed, an AL press release said yester-day.
