President asks BRCS to work for humanity

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has asked the members of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) to perform their duties more actively and sincerely in the service of humanity.
The Head of the State came up with the call as a delegation of the new executive committee of the BRCS, a part of the world’s largest humanitarian non-governmental organization, led by its Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Ubaidul Kabir Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban yesterday.
Later, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin briefed the journalists.
Shahabuddin said the role of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is very important in the service of hu-manity during various crisis moments, including natural calamities.
Appreciating the BDRCS role in socio-economic development, including various natural calamities since independence, he said the BDRCS volunteers should be more active in dealing with any disasters like situations.
The Head of State also highlighted his own experience from 1972 to 1975 as the General Secretary of Red Cross of Pabna District.
President Shahabuddin also asked the authorities concerned to strengthen coordination with the relevant departments, ministries and institutions in implementing and executing the project of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
He was apprised by the delegation of the overall activities of BRCS and the progress of its various ongo-ing projects.
During the meeting, secretaries concerned to the President’s Office were present, among others.
