JS body seeks list of delayed projects

The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Planning yesterday sought the names of long run delayed projects and asked the concerned authorities to explain the actual reasons behind repeatedly changing its timeframe at the next meeting.
“The JS body has sought the list of long run delayed projects along with proper explanation of chang-ing its timeframe frequently at the next meeting of the committee”, a parliament secretariat press release said here yesterday .
The instructions came at the 4th meeting of the JS body on the Ministry of Planning of the 12thJatiya Sangsad held at the JatiyaSangsad Bhaban here with its Chairman MA Mannan in the chair.
Other committee members including Planning Minister Major General (retd) Abdus Salam, Rafiqul Is-lam, Dr Sri Biren Sikder, State Minister for Planning M Shahiduzzaman Sarker, Abdus Sabur, AKM Mostafizur Rahman and Khaleda Beauty Bahar also were attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the JS committee also requested the concerned ministries and divisions to consider the procedural aspects of expediting the works of the implemented projects.
The committee discussed elaborately on different projects and the latest economic consensus report 2023 implemented by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Along with the execution of the projects, the legislative body also gave importance on mobilizing and reinforcing the development trend of the country through integrated participation of all.
Planning Secretary, Statistics and Information Secretary, Railway Secretary, Director-Generals, chief s of different government agencies and concerned parliamentary secretariat officials, among others, were present at the meeting.
