Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the BNP is trying to transform the anti-quota movement into an anti-government campaign.
During a press conference at the Awami League President’s political office in Dhanmondi on Thursday afternoon, Quader criticized BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his remarks that freedom fighters no longer need quotas.
“They have no respect for the freedom fighters. By opposing the quota system, the BNP has once again proven its anti-liberation stance,” Quader said.
Mentioning the four-week status quo of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division on the 2018 quota circular, Quader said, “I had urged the protesting students to be patient and respect the judicial process. But they have continued their demonstration, causing suffering to the public.”
“The protesters are disregarding the judicial process and causing unnecessary hardship to people,” he added.
