Chattogram: An accused in a robbery case was found hanging at Chandgaon Police Station in Chatto-gram port city early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Jewel, 26, son of Abdul Malek alias Abdul Mabud of Khejurtala of Chandgaon area.
Zahidul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Chandgaon Police Station, said examining the CCTV footage it was found that Jewel, who was taken into police custody on Tuesday night in a robbery case, committed sui-cide by hanging himself from the ventilator of the police station with his shirt around 6:30 am.
Jewel was wanted in seven cases filed with Kotwali Police Station, he said.
He might have committed suicide from depression, said the OC.
Jewel’s mother Minara Begum and sister Salma Akter went to the police station in the morning.
