UniPay2U customers to get their money back

Staff Reporter:

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday ordered authorities concerned to transfer Taka 420 crore of the customers of multilevel marketing company (MLM) UniPay2U to the gov-ernment treasury.
The three-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order, pav-ing way for the customers to get their money back by applying to the government.
“This money was deposited in BRAC Bank’s Elephant Road branch. The apex court yesterday or-dered to transfer the money to the government treasury. It also ordered to publish advertisement on national dailies, so that customers can claim their money within 30 days,” Barrister Aneek R Haque, who moved the plea for the customers at the court, told newsmen.
The lawyer said the government will scrutinize their claims and arrange the process to give them their money back.
