At least four people, including a woman and a child, were killed and 10 others were injured following a collision between a bus and a truck on the Bangabandhu Expressway in Surjanagar area of Shibchar upazila in Madaripur on Thursday night.
The accident took place around 7:45pm. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shakil Ahammed confirmed the matter.
Police and locals said that the accident took place when a Barishal-bound bus of Hanif Enterprise suddenly hit a truck from behind, leaving three passengers of the bus died on the spot and at least 11 others were injured. One more passenger died on the way to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex.
On information, police and fire service personnel conducted a rescue operation. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
