No more Rohingyas to be allowed to enter Bangladesh

Staff Reporter:

Newly appointed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ash-rafuzzaman Siddiqui yesterday said the border security force will allow no Rohingya to enter Bangladesh territory.
“A boat carrying 65 Rohingya people tried to enter Bangladesh. They were arrested by the border troops and the process of sending them back is underway,” he told reporters after placing tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
Siddiqui said, “We are trying to face the situation with patience, humanitarian ground and maintaining international good relations.”
He said a total of 264 members of Myanmar’s different forces including border guard police (BGP) and security forces have taken refuge in Bangladesh in the past three days.
“We gave them shelter and food. Fifteen of them were injured while eight are in critical conditions,” he said.
Of the critically injured, the DG said, four were admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital and four at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, the DG paid tributes to the martyred Freedom Fighters by placing floral wreaths at ‘Simanta Gourab’ in Pilkhana.
