Founding principles largely absent in JS now: Mokabbir

Staff Reporter:

Gonoforum MP Mokabbir Khan on Sunday said the philosophy of the Father of the Nation, the spirit of the Liberation War, and the desire for freedom are largely absent in the parliament now.
“Sadly, even today the Parliament passes indemnity law for the corrupt, money launderers, looters. It’s a shame,” he said.
The Gonoforum MP was participating in the discussion on a proposal on the golden jubilee of Bangla-desh Jatiya Sangsad.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday placed the proposal in the House on the 50th anniversary of Parliament.
Mokabbir said that some issues should be kept above all debate.
“Questioning the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, the Parliament, the Constitution, the National Flag, the National Constitution will be extremely dishonest and treacherous.”
Mokabbir Khan said that the motivation of the liberation war was provided by the election of 1970. Then the Election Commission was under the control of West Pakistan.
“But Awami League won 288 out of 300 seats in the provincial council. There is no question about that definition. No one raised any question about 1970 elections.”
Mokabbir said that after 1975, during the period of any legitimate and illegal government, no one could hold fair, free and impartial elections in the country.
He said that sometimes the constitution was cut, sometimes yes-no votes, sometimes ballot boxes were stolen, sometimes 13 million fake voters, sometimes vote rigging the night before.
“Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina was not spared from this slander.”
