Manikganj: The ferry services on Aricha-Kazirhat route resumed after 9.30 hours of suspension due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river bed of Jamuna, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources said.
During this period, three ferries Beer ShreshTha Ruhul Amin, Begum Rokeya and Begum Sufia Kamal were anchored at Aricha Ghat and ferry Shah Ali was at Kazirhat loaded with vehicles and passengers.
BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said the ferry movement was suspended from 12.40 am to 10.10 am yesterday, adding that the ferry services became normal after the dense fog disappeared.
Meanwhile the ferry movement between Paturia-Daulatdia was suspended for 6:40 hours from 3.00 am to 9.40 am yesterday as the dense fog blanketed the river bed of the Padma, BIWTC Paturia Ghat sources said.
During this period, 8 ferries were anchored at Paturia Ghat, three at Daulatdia Ghat and four ferries were stranded in the middle of the river Padma loaded with vehicles and passengers.
