Protests held as road mishap kills Tripura Sardar

Chattogram: A Tripura Sardar named Shankar Tripura (65) died after being hit by a bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda on Tuesday.
The incident happened in Sultana Temple area of Ward-1 of Kumira Union of the upazila around 4:45 pm on Tuesday.
The deceased was the son of late Mankarai Tripura of Pahari Tripura Para of the area.
The deceased was critically injured when a Dhaka-bound Star Line bus hit him in front of GPH Steel Factory while he was going to recite Gita at a temple in Sultana Temple area like every other day.
Local Union Parishad member Md Salauddin rescued him and took him to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Tripura residents from the hills came to the highway and protested by seizing all the buses of Star Line after the news of the death of Tripura Sardar Shankar.
On information, Bar Aulia Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khokon Chandra Ghosh rushed to the spot and assured them of justice.
OC said legal action will be taken in this regard.
