Making people hostage is not democracy: Nasim

Staff Reporter:

Joint General Secretary of Awami League (AL) AFM Bahauddin Nasim yesterday said the BNP is creat-ing anarchy across the country in the name of movement by making people hostage, but it is not demo-cratic system.
“BNP is creating anarchic situation against the country and its people in the name of movement,” he told a view-exchange meeting with Imams, Muazzins and Alems in the city’s Paltan Community Centre.
The Election Commission is working to ensure a free, fair and neutral election, but BNP and their fol-lowers are hatching conspiracy centering the upcoming general election, he added.
The AL wants that the countrymen will cast their vote independently and hopes that the national election will be fair and participatory, he said.
Mentioning that Imam, Muazzin and Alem can play a vital role in the election, Nasim sought blessings from them so that the upcoming election can be held in peaceful manner.
“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had made Islamic Foundation and his wor-thy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina established a huge number of mosques as she is working re-lentlessly for the wellbeing of country and it’s people.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not tolerate terrorist and militant activities and she does not bow down to any evil forces,” he said.
Nasim urged all to remain alert to BNP’s any kind of conspiracy.
He carried out election campaign in his constituency Dhaka-8 throughout the day.
