Simeen pledges to turn Kapasia into an agro economic hub

Simeen Hussain Rimi has pledged that she would turn her constituency-Kapasia upazila into an agro-based green economic hub side by side with turning 231 villages under the upazila into model villages if she is elected in the next elections.
“My prime goal is to create a congenial atmosphere for investment in different agro-based sectors and opportunities for educated unemployed youths,” she said in an interview recently.
She also vowed to build the youths of Kapasia into smart citizens by encouraging them in acquiring knowledge to build a Smart Bangladesh with their merits.
Rimi, also a daughter of Bangladesh’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed, is contesting the parliamen-tary polls from Gazipur-4 for the fourth time as she was elected MP from the constituency thrice.
Upon her younger brother Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj’s resignation from his position as MP from the con-stituency, Rimi was elected with Awami League ticket in the by-election from Gazipur-4 in 2013. Later, she was elected in general elections in 2014 and 2018.
She said Kapasia has massive treasures for agricultural economy and there have been massive potentials for commercial productions of different crops and fruits.
Many people are earning their livelihood depending on only fruits cultivation here, she said.
“We want to turn Kapasia into a model upazila through flourishing green economy with optimal utiliza-tion of the potentials,” she said.
She pledged to make development activities for all irrespective of political affiliations.
She vowed for continuing her efforts to build a safe Kapasia free from drug abuse and terrorism by en-gaging youths with sports and encouraging them in reading books.
She said a database of all people of her constituency will be prepared to engage people in the works in which they are capable of.
She will put emphasis on creating entrepreneurs in ICT sector as well as engaging youths with outsourc-ing.
Rimi said Kapasia has set an example in the country by bringing down the maternal mortality rate to zero level.
A database has been prepared having 27 types of information to implement Kapasia Model with the name “Gorvobotir Ayna” to bring down the maternal mortality rate, she added.
The government has also taken the model to implement across the country while it also got reorganiza-tion from United Nations Population Fund (UNFP).
