Chattogram: State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury yesterday said that Bangladesh is emerging with huge potentials in the maritime sector.
“Success is assured with the simultaneous combination of appropriate education and training.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized on the importance of education,” he said while speaking at the 57th graduation parade of Bangladesh Marine Academy here as chief guest.
The Prime Minister has already inaugurated the book festival on the last day of the year despite her busy schedule, the State Minister said adding that there is no substitute for education to climb the golden peak of development.
“Free education up to class 10 for the female students, scholarships for them are also playing a signifi-cant role in increasing our education rate,” he added.
Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, he feels privileged to be present at the graduation parade of 57-batch of the cadets at Bangladesh Marine Academy campus, which was planned by the architect of Bangladesh maritime sector, visionary of maritime education, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chattogram Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M. Sohail addressed the function as special guest.
A total of 272 cadets including 134 in nautical branch, 138 in engineering branch have completed two years of academic and regimental training this year.
