CIC for voluntary disclosure of information

Staff Reporter:

Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Abdul Malek yesterday reiterated his call for voluntary dis-closure of information as per the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
“It is essential for the people to get authentic and real information. Correct information plays an im-portant role for increasing transparency and accountability. We can destroy the scope of violence and anxiety, which is created by falsehood, misinformation from un-edited platforms, among people through the flow of authentic information,” he said.
The CIC came up with the observation while addressing as the chief guest a workshop on RTI Act, 2009, and citizen charter organized by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), a press release said yester-day.
Dr Abdul Malek said the RAJUK’s activities in providing information are satisfactory.
Presided over by RAJUK chairman Md Anisur Rahman Miah, the workshop was attended by 210 offi-cials of the organization.
