President Mohammed Shahabuddin yesterday asked new Bangladesh ambassador to Indonesia to explore the existing trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The President came up with the directives when Bangladesh Ambassador to Indonesia Md Tariqul Islam paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.
President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told that during the meeting, the new ambassador sought President’s directives to fulfill his assignment in Indonesia.
He said the two countries have many potential to explore, including increasing the export of various products to Indonesia as Bangladesh produced world-standard quality products like readymade garment (RMG), medicine and ceramics.
The Head of State told the ambassador that there is an ample scope to develop the bilateral relations be-tween Bangladesh and Indonesia as well as the growth of business and trade.
President Shahabuddin laid emphasis on mutual visit exchange of businessmen to increase trade and commerce between Bangladesh and Indonesia.
President’s Office Secretary Samapad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present.
