The High Court (HC) yesterday adjourned till today the hearing on a writ petition challenging the legali-ty of announcement of the schedule for the upcoming 12th national election.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah set the date after holding primary hearing on the matter yesterday.
Talking to , petitioner Advocate Dr Eunus Ali Akond, who also moved the plea before the court, said the matter will come on the cause list for hearing today. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin stood for the state yesterday.
Akond filed the plea on December 29, making the Chief Election Commissioner, the Law and Justice Division Secretary, the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary as re-spondents.
Earlier on November 28, Advocate Dr Eunus Ali Akond sent legal notices to the concerned officials, calling for deferring the election. As the notice got unheard, he filed the writ, challenging the legality of polls schedule announced on November 15.
