Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said that participation of the vot-ers in elections expresses the beauty of democracy.
She made the remarks when emerging from the office of Assistant Returning Officer and UNO of Pir-ganj M. Iqbal Hasan, as she submitted a nomination paper for the 12th parliament election for the Rangpur-6 constituency this morning, said a release.
Mentioning the prayers, love and support of the people of Pirganj she received during the last elections, Dr Shirin said, “I firmly believe people will choose their desired candidates through competitive, partic-ipatory and fair elections.”
“The present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has worked for the development of the people. We expect that the support and prayers will continue from their side, so that the wheels of the development keep running,” Dr Shirin said, urging people to vote for the boat, it added.
While replying to the queries of the newsmen, the Speaker said that necessary measures must be taken, so that the voters could cast their votes without any disruption or disturbance.
