Landslide in Cox’s Bazar leaves 3 Rohingyas dead

Cox’s Bazar: Three Rohingyas were killed on Wednesday after heavy chunks of mud from a hill collapsed on them while cutting a hill at Muhuripara in Ukhiya Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Two of the deceased were identified as Jahid Hossain, 23, son of Abdul Motaleb, resident of Rohingya camp east-1, Syed Akbar, 20, son of Md. Owares, resident of Rohingya camp-3. The identity of another deceased couldn’t be known yet.

Locals said, a team of Rohingya labourers were cutting a hill near Nesar Ahmed’s house.

Suddenly, some heavy chunks of mud collapsed on them, leaving the trio dead on the spot.

On information, police and a fire service team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Ukhiya Police Station, said that they brought the bodies to the police station.

The bodies will be sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
