Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to life-term imprison-ment in a drug case, from Kadomtoli area in the capital last night.
The arrested was identified as Md. Bakkar Sheikh, 48, son of Sheikh Sadek from Gauri Laskhipur vil-lage under Kotwali police station of Faridpur district, Deputy Director of RAB-10 Aminul Islam told yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-10 conducted a drive in city’s Kadomtoli area and arrested him around 10pm on Monday.
According to RAB, during preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused admitted that he was sen-tenced to life imprisonment in the drug case. Since filing the case he was hiding in various areas includ-ing Kadomtoli area of the capital.
There are several cases against him in different police stations of the country, RAB officials said.
The arrested accused was handed over to the concerned police station yesterday.
