Staff Reporter:

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam left for an official visit to Spain and the United Kingdom aiming to deepen economic partnerships and expand cultural cooperation.
During the visit, scheduled for October 26-30, she will meet dignitaries to explore cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, skills development and cultural exchange, said a foreign ministry press release yesterday.
The visit will begin in Seville, Spain, where she will inaugurate the third Spain-Bangladesh Expo 2026 on October 26.
Organised by the Spain-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SBCCI), the expo will be held under the theme “Stronger Partnership, Shared Prosperity”.
The event aims to connect Bangladeshi exporters with Spanish manufacturers, importers and investors, opening avenues for trade and investment partnerships.
Following her engagements in Spain, Shama will visit the United Kingdom on October 29-30.
Her UK engagements will focus on promoting Bangladeshi art and culture, expanding international cultural partnerships and exploring opportunities to develop Bangladesh’s creative economy.
The visit reflects Bangladesh’s commitment to advancing economic diplomacy, attracting investment and strengthening cultural cooperation with European partners, the release said.
