Bangladesh Honda introduces new Dio with automatic transmission

Commerce Reporter :

Bangladesh Honda Private Limited launched the new Honda Dio, a 110cc automatic scooter priced at Tk1.57 lakh, for convenient and comfortable urban commuting. Honda’s authorised dealer showrooms nationwide launched the scooter yesterday (9 October), under the tagline “Smart vibe, Easy ride,” according to the press release.
The new Dio has a 109.51cc PGM-FI engine. The company said it produces 10.82 PS at 8,000 rpm and 9.03 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Its automatic clutch allows riders to accelerate without manually changing gears. The scooter features an Idling Stop System and an ACG Silent Starter for smoother stop-and-go riding and quieter restarts. It also has a Combi Brake System for stable braking and a side-stand engine cut-off for added safety. Susumu Morisawa, managing director and CEO of Bangladesh Honda, said the launch marked a new chapter for two-wheelers in Bangladesh.
He said more young people, including women, men and first-time riders, were seeking transport suited to their everyday needs. The Dio was intended to offer easy handling, confidence, convenience and greater safety for city journeys.
Morisawa added that local production enabled the company to offer the scooter at a reasonable price while maintaining Honda’s quality standards. Designed for city traffic, the Dio has a seat height of 765mm, a width of 680mm and a weight of 101.5kg. It features telescopic front suspension and unit swing rear suspension. Convenience features include 18-litre under-seat storage, an open glovebox, floorboard space and a 15W Type-C charging port. An external fuel lid lets riders refuel without opening the seat, and the design includes a daytime running light headlamp. Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, chief marketing officer of Bangladesh Honda, said, “The new Dio brings together easy handling, convenience and style in one smart package. With its automatic transmission, low seat height, light weight and compact design, it is easy to control in city traffic, while PGM-FI and the Idling Stop System help riders save fuel and cut costs. Dio delivers a smart and comfortable riding experience for everyday commuters.”
