Tk 9.49cr allocated for burial of FFs

Staff Reporter:

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has allocated Tk 9.49 crore from the 2026-27 fiscal year budgets to meet the immediate costs of burial, cremation and transportation of the bodies of freedom fighters.
The allocation was announced in an order issued by the ministry’s budget wing on September 29. The funds will be released in favor of the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UN-Os) across the country.
According to the order, the money will be drawn from Tk 18 crore allocated for burial grants under the honorarium allowances for wounded and other freedom fighters, as part of the special operational budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The concerned district and upazila administrations will withdraw the allocated funds from their respec-tive district or upazila accounts offices. The Chief Accounts and Finance Officer has been requested to send the necessary authority for the total allocation to the relevant accounts offices.
The order said the released amount will be adjusted against the designated burial grant allocation in the current fiscal year’s budget.
The DCs and UNOs will withdraw the funds from the respective district or upazila treasuries through proper bills.
Under the conditions of the allocation, the funds may be used only for the cremation, burial and trans-portation of the bodies of freedom fighters and for no other purpose.
The government financial rules and regulations must be strictly followed in spending the money. The concerned disbursing authorities will be held responsible for any irregularities.
Any unspent amount remaining after June 30, 2027, must be deposited into the designated government treasury account, with the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs informed accordingly.
The ministry has instructed the DC’s of all 64 districts and all UNOs to take necessary measures.
Deputy Secretary (Budget) at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Dr Md Asaduzzaman, signed the order.
