Police arrested two activists of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jubo League in connection with two crude bomb blasts at Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday.
The arrestees are Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain Raihan, 32, organizational secretary of BCL’s Shahjahanpur thana unit and Mohammad Sanmun, 23, a Jubo Dal activist.
Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner of DMP Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid disclosed the in-formation at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road on Monday afternoon.
Harun said two crude bombs exploded one after another around 10:37pm on Saturday at a spot be-tween pillars 29 and 30 on platform No. 2 of Kamalapur Railway Station.
Following the blasts, relevant railway officials visited the scene, he said.
He claimed that both arrestees admitted during interrogation to their involvement in the blasts
As the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Railway a case was filed with Dhaka Railway Police Station on Sunday, he said.
