One-minute silence for Zia, Khaleda, martyrs observed

A one-minute silence was observed in memory of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and all martyrs at starting of a discussion yesterday marking the 48th founding anniversary of ruling BNP.
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman yesterday joined a discussion organized to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The discussion began at around 3:45pm at Bangladesh Krishibid Institution auditorium in the cap-ital with recitation from the Holy Quran, under the slogan, “Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Shobar Age Bangladesh” (We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first).
The program then featured the national anthem, followed by the party anthem. A documentary on the 48-year-old party was also screened.
Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded BNP on September 1, 1978.
The five-day central program marking the party’s founding anniversary, which began last Tuesday, will conclude yesterday with the discussion.
BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi presided over the discussion. BNP Cen-tral Publicity Secretary and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku is conducting the discussion.
Economist Mahbub Ullah, BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rah-man, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Md Aman Ullah Aman, Farhad Haleem and Md Ismail Zabiullah are attending the programme.
Members of the BNP National Standing Committee and invited eminent personalities are taking part in the discussion.
