Minu for jt UNDP partnership for land management

Staff Reporter:

Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu has stressed the importance of maintaining joint part-nerships with UNDP and other international development partners to modernize the land man-agement system, introduce one-stop services, and ensure transparency.
He said this when UNDP Resident Representative Stephen Rodriques paid a courtesy call on him at his Secretariat office yesterday.
State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, Senior Land Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed and senior officials of UNDP were present at the meeting.
Minu called for enhanced cooperation and institutional investment in advanced technological sup-port, training, and research in the field of land management.
During the meeting, the state minister briefed the UNDP resident representative on various plans for land management and its digitalization in Bangladesh.
Referring to the digitalization of land services as an outstanding achievement of Bangladesh, he said digitalization of services empowers citizens and enhances transparency in government initia-tives. This is because it significantly reduces the influence of middlemen, he added.
The UNDP resident representative said he would work closely with the Bangladesh government, development partners, civil society, the private sector, and local communities to accelerate inclu-sive development, strengthen disaster resilience, and advance progress toward achieving the Sus-tainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He said, “I want to work together with the Bangladesh government, the people of this country, and our development partners so that all our previous achievements can be sustained and, building on them, new, sustainable, and inclusive solutions can be developed that directly benefit the people.”
