Prime Minister’s Adviser for Education Mahdi Amin yesterday said that a new avenue for inter-national-standard employment opportunities free of cost has opened up in Japan for Bangla-deshi diploma engineers through learning the Japanese language.
He said this at a meeting at the conference room of the Technical and Madrasah Education Divi-sion of the Ministry of Education at the Bangladesh Secretariat yesterday afternoon.
The meeting was held to review the progress of Japanese language training for students of Dha-ka Polytechnic Institute, aimed at creating employment opportunities for Bangladeshi diploma engineers in Japan under an initiative of Japan-based Town Life Company Limited.
Mahdi Amin, also Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) spokesperson, said, “Manpower export from Bangladesh began during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. In the current changed circumstances, Japan’s labor market is extremely important for Bangladesh.”
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he said, the government is undertak-ing multifaceted initiatives with Japan in this regard where the learning of Japanese language is being given the highest priority.
The adviser also said the government is working to remove all procedural complications, includ-ing visa applications and accommodation facilities, to make it easier for Japanese teachers to come to Bangladesh and provide training.
He said that under the signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), diploma holders in civil, electrical and architecture disciplines will be sent to Japan through employment visas.
The concerned Japanese companies will bear all expenses from language course and technical training of the candidates to their arrival in Japan, added Mahdi Amin.
Besides, the companies will also provide direct assistance for developing laboratories and sup-plying necessary training equipment at Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, he said.
Regarding the employment timeline, the adviser said the language training course of the first batch of students is almost complete and their jobs have been secured.
They will start joining their respective workplaces in Japan by October 2026, he said, adding, the selected candidates of the second batch will enter Japan by January 2027.
Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Daud Miah presided over the meet-ing.
Town Life Japan Limited Tomizawa Kazunori, Branch Manager Okada Yohei and senior officials of the Ministry of Education and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute were present at the meeting.
