Various schemes taken for joyful learning: Milon

The government has taken various plans to ensure joyful learning for students, Education and Pri-mary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said yesterday.
“The government is implementing school uniform and midday meal programs to encourage stu-dents to attend school. In the future, all upazilas across the country will be brought under the mid-day meal program,” he added.
The minister said this while addressing a workshop titled “Review of the ‘Learn Through Play’ In-formation Book” as the chief guest at a city hotel yesterday.
He said two new textbooks titled “Sports” and “Bangladesh Culture” is being introduced in the fourth grade of Bangladesh’s primary schools from the 2027 academic year. Besides, work is un-derway to develop a textbook titled “Learning with Happiness” for the sixth grade. At the same time, sports will be included in the curriculum of the first grade from 2028, he added.
The minister also stressed the promotion of indigenous games in educational institutions.
He said there is a shortage of teachers in the country’s educational institutions. To address the problem, a “Retired Teachers Pool” could be formed with retired teachers, he suggested.
He said everyone must work together to build Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
As the special guest, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said children should be provided with joyful learning opportunities so that they develop an interest in learning. Everyone must work together in the field of primary education, he added.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque spoke about various initiatives taken by the government to increase the number of playgrounds across the country and develop talented ath-letes.
Director General of the National Academy for Primary Education Farid Ahmed chaired the event.
Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Shahina Ferdousi and Save the Children Country Director Suman Sengupta were present.
