Labor and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury yesterday expressed hope that the election schedule for the Bangladesh Tea Workers’ Union will be announced by August 30.
He expressed the hope during a courtesy meeting with a delegation of the Bangladesh Tea Association at the minister’s office at the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
The meeting discussed in detail various issues related to the overall development of the tea industry and the welfare of tea workers.
Special emphasis was laid on increasing tea production, improving the living standards of workers and maintaining harmonious relations between owners and workers.
The representatives of the Bangladesh Tea Association thanked the minister for the government’s contin-ued cooperation in the overall progress of the tea sector.
Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Md. Abdur Rahman Tarafdar, Bangladesh Tea As-sociation Chairman Kamran Tanvirur Rahman and Secretary General Dr. Kazi Muzaffar Ahmed were present at the meeting.
