The government will redesign Hajj packages by reducing ancillary costs alongside airfare to make the pilgrimage more affordable, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said on Thursday.
Speaking at the National Hajj and Umrah Fair at the China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital, the state minister said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman deserves full credit for lowering Hajj airfares.
He said the government had also held discussions with the Saudi ambassador to explore further ways to reduce the overall cost of performing Hajj while ensuring better facilities for pilgrims.
Millat said the government is working to provide facilities under the Category C package for pilgrims choosing the lower-cost Category D package, which would improve services without significantly increasing expenses.
He also said Hajj agencies in Bangladesh aim to deliver an even better Hajj management system in 2027 than they did in 2026.
The state minister said authorities have taken note of complaints about luggage handling, food and other services during this year’s pilgrimage and assured that such problems would not recur in future Hajj operations.
