Staff Reporter:

President Mohammed Shahabuddin yesterday urged Morocco to hire more skilled and semi-skilled Bangladeshi workers in different sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, ready-made garments, textiles as well as information and communication technology (ICT).
The President came up with the call as newly appointed Moroccan Ambassador to Bangladesh Ms Lalla Boutina El Kerdoudi El Koulali presented her credentials to him at Bangabhaban yesterday .
The Head of the State said both Bangladesh and Morocco remain immense potentials for expanding trade and investment relations.
He stressed the importance of exchanging high-level government and private-sector visits of trade and investment delegations to further strengthen bilateral ties.
During the meeting, President Shahabuddin described the existing relations between the two countries as very excellent and steadily growing stronger.
Recalling the 1981 visit of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to Morocco, he expressed gratitude to the Moroccan people for naming a road in Rabat after the late Bangladeshi leader.
The President also apprised the envoy of the government’s extensive programs for human resource de-velopment and Bangladesh’s recent achievements in the sector.
He thanked the Moroccan government for its support at various international forums regarding the repat-riation of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals to their homeland.
And such support would continue in the days to come, he also expressed the hope.
The newly appointed ambassador sought the President’s cooperation in discharging her duties in Bangla-desh.
Earlier, on her (ambassador) arrival, a horse-driven smartly turned-out contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) accorded her a ‘guard of honour’ at Bangabhaban.
Secretaries concerned and senior officials of the foreign ministry were present there.
