Two workers were killed in a devastating fire at a chips manufacturing factory in Badda, Dhaka.
The deceased were identified as Mahmudul Hasan, 21, and Mostafa, 23, both from Taraganj upazila in Rangpur district. Mahmudul was the son of Islam Uddin, while Mostafa’s father is Majnu Mia.
Police recovered their charred bodies from the Maria Abdullah Food chips factory on Koborsthan Road in East Badda at around 4:15 am on Monday (25 May). The bodies were later sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The fire reportedly broke out at around 2:00 am.
Confirming the incident, Badda Police Station Inspector (Operations) Md. Azharul Islam said the fire is initially believed to have originated from an electrical short circuit.
After receiving the information, firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control. The bodies of the two workers were later recovered from inside the factory.
