A special tribunal in Dhaka yesterday set June 1 for holding a hearing on charge framing in a case lodged over the rape and murder of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter in the capital’s Pallabi area.
Judge Masrur Salekin of Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal passed the order yesterday after accepting the charge sheet filed in the case.
Police earlier in the day submitted the charge sheet against the alleged rapist and killer Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter.
Immediately after knowing the tragic and barbaric incident of rape and killing minor Ramisa, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman went to her house in the city and expressed his commitment to ensure justice. On Saturday the PM reaffirmed that the trial and judgment of this heart touching case will be completed within one month period.
While, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed yesterday said the government would ensure the highest pun-ishment for those involved in the brutal crime,” he said.
He made the remarks while speaking at a dialogue organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the Secretariat media centre.
Ramisa, a student of class 2 of Popular Model High School, Pallabi was raped and subsequently behead-ed by her neighbour Sohel Rana at his flat in Millat Camp area in Pallabi on May 19.
Ramisa’s father filed the case with Pallabi thana next day.
